Welcome to the presentation of a new wind vane rudder for sailing boats. The rudder, when activated, keep the yacht on course without the helmsman's heading control. Different parts of the rudder design are to be found on the links above. To use a wind vane rudder make the sailing easy since the rudder works as an extra crew member.
The main principle of the rudder is named direct control from the wind vane to the steering rudder. Simple course setting and and a light weight design.
Steering is specilally good in light and moderate winds. No lines are necessary to the main rudder. Can be used as auxiliary rudder |

Maximum suitable yacht size to use this rudder is abt 38 feet. It is easy to adapt to the stern especially those yacht with negative stern.
- General design of the wind rudder is given in the background link - Technical eveluation of the rudder made by MARINTEK - Manufacturing of a prototype - Sea trial with the rudder -Patent application
Since the final manufacturer not yet is decided you are welcome to offer your mechanical fabrication capabilities on the contact page.
